Artist Statement
As Angela Schwindt states, “While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” When an old Pentax film camera and a roll of black and white film had been placed in my hands, that quote is exactly what I subconsciously set out to prove. I’ve always known I prefer photographing children; I mean, how more real-world can you get than the innocent face of a child? They know everything and know nothing at the same time. Until I had that trusty Pentax within my grasp I didn’t realize just how far that idea expands. Not only are the unfiltered expressions of children obvious in photographs, but also animals (cats, dogs, etc.) provide with an honest reaction to the world as well.

Inspiring Photographer
After searching high and low for a photographer that views children the way I do, I stumbled upon Michael Kormos, who has won awards for being a New York photographer. I have found that his breathtaking photos of children relate immensely to the way I view children, as untouched wonders of the world. In his photography, he manages to capture the realness that only a child can present. He captures real reactions which are something I relate to gravitating toward natural, even his photos of animals are very unfiltered.
